Welcome to Wednesday. For fun, I chose the option to let Articfical Intelligence (AI) suggest the title for this blog; I find it to be a fitting suggestion. What's new in conserving our democracy and county? Well, let's dive in...
ALERT: TODAY
Sheriff Bob Songer will be holding a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
Klickitat County Pioneer Center located at 501 NE Washington Street, White Salmon, Washington.
Ballots will be mailed on October 16th.
Reminder:
Return your ballot to a drop box or the Auditor's office.
Return your ballot right away, do not wait.
We will publish a 1-800 number to call so that if you are unable to return your ballot, we will come pick it up and deliver it for you. Ballot status can be tracked at voter.votewa.gov so you can be confident your vote is delivered and counted.
Do NOT mail your ballot. Our mailing experiments have shown that anything mailed is time/date stamped more than 24 hours after time of mailing, even when handing the mail to a postal clerk at a post office location. This increases the potential to have your ballot rejected.
You will see these names on the ballot for County Commissioner:
District 1: Todd Andrews (R) and Amanda Kitchings (I)
District 3: Dan Christoper (R) and Ron Ihrig (R)
Connect with them in person, via email or phone. Ask them the questions on county topics important to you. You need to vote with confidence.
After careful consideration and much discussion, the KCR is supporting Todd Andrews in District 1.
Todd has the background and experience to bring leadership, thoughtfulness, and analytical skills to examine the challenges, strengths, weaknesses, and budget of Klickitat County. He prefers to find people and county-centric solutions to our challenges (benefiting families, businesses and community while lowering costs ) rather than governement and bureaucratic-centric (increased spending benefiting a few while increasing taxation). He will bring balance to the County.
His opponent--while we do not question her sincerity--in her responses and conversations has created concerns about her understanding of her role as an elected official. Her proposed solution to challenges is more dependence on government, rather than less. This strategy does not benefit the county or its residents in the short term (waiting) or the long term (more taxes).
The KCR is hosting a Candidate Night
Thursday, October 3rd at 7:00 pm
Goldendale Grange
Local and statewide candidates will be attending.
See you there!
...and with final input from AI, I will end this blog with a more formal and poetic invitation to the Candidate Night:
Ode to Candidate Night
In Goldendale Grange, on a night so fair,
KCR hosts a gathering rare.
Local and statewide candidates unite,
Underneath the stars, shining bright.
On Thursday, the 3rd of October,
Voices raised, hearts all aflutter.
Promises made, visions shared,
In the cool autumn air, all bared.
Come one, come all, to witness the sight,
At Candidate Night, we all declare,
Our hopes and dreams, our future we share.
